About Me Post 2018 - "Is My Blog Worth Reading?"

“Variety’s the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavour.” - William Cowper, The Task (1785)

2018 is a particularly important year for me. As a 19 year old uni student in Sydney I consider my life to be very pleasant and progressing rather well. It’s fun, it’s interesting and I like to think it has that healthy balance between university, sport and friends… There are moments where I’m insanely busy, and there are opportunities when I can lay low. To “spice” it up a little more I even had my hair dyed pink to really feel free from the rules of a private all-girls Catholic high school and the stereotype I had myself cornered into as the quiet Asian girl.

I was always very introspective (and over the HSC period I think that reciprocated through over-analysing, over-thinking and insane levels of self-inflicted stress) and my close companions have always been TWO things:

Number 1: A cup of coffee in the morning (never skulled, always drunk slowly and paired with calm, quiet mornings before the rush of the day).
Tim is my spirit guide and yes, that's a Star Wars quote. (pic from here)

Number 2: A diary or journal to write in at night (written in daily, during any mood and with as much honesty as possible). Side note, it's actually really fun to re-read diaries, especially when it written by your 12-year old self...

On a more serious note and in regards to more deeper diary entries (rather than recounts), I found it's easier to piece together your thoughts when you write them down rather than have them circle through your head. There is also something so calming and pleasant about sitting alone at the end of the day and quietly writing (rambling) about whatever’s on my mind, even if I’m doing this for 2-3 hours into the night. One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of my entries are very self-reflective and have been increasing recently, perhaps due to my current situation. They seem to attempt in understanding myself, my personality, my interests, etc. Basically I’m constantly wondering:

  • Who am I?
  • Where can I go?
  • What is it that I want?

This interest in exploration is what led me to trying to write a blog. There’s so many things to share and discuss, especially since I feel as though I’m stuck with a brain that never shuts up and has this inherent need to try and understand everything.

So getting to the point —> Will my Blog be worth reading?
Well I certainly think it will be worth writing! For me that is. It’s up to you on whether you think it is worth your time. It’s also up to you to try something different for once too, maybe you can start writing a blog too, instead of going through the regular motion of posting and scrolling through the usual social networking platform.

Humanism anyone? (pic from here)

My blog will be about anything that comes to mind or interest on that day. There may be times when I’m feeling like deep, perplexing analysis of something, other times I may want to ramble about the newest TV show or a recently opened, trendy cafe. There may be other times I may just want to discuss specific encounters or events I have experienced.

Instead of keeping my thoughts to myself, I’m interested to see what I can do and what I can get out of SHARING these thoughts and to reflect over things through a different medium.

Let’s have fun with this blog and remember to keep writing.
